Converting a MARC file to Excel with MarcEdit (Export Koha Bibliographic Record .mrc & Convert it into Excel Format)

Steps in Koha

1. In Koha 23.05 Go to CATALOGUING MODULE

2. Click on Export Catalogue Data

3. Export Bibliographic Record of your choice

4. Click on Export Bibliographic Record Button and Save it in your desired place.

Steps in MarcEdit

1. In MarcEdit Go to Tools & Click on Export Tab Delimited Records

2. In Select File Path open your .mrc file and copy the path (Forexample) C:\Users\Dell\Desktop\kohaicp.mrc

3. Paste the Path and just change the .mrc extention into .txt (Forexample) C:\Users\Dell\Desktop\kohaicp.txt

4. Click on Next Button

5. Now add all the required fields one by one which you want to export e.g. select 020 and in subfiled type a and then click on add field and so on....

6. when you finished selecting the required bibliographic data fields the click on export button.

7. then click on ok.

8. Click on close.

Steps in Excel

1. Open Excell software 

2. Browse the exported .txt file it will not be shown by default therefore click on show all files and then select your .txt file

3. Click on Next Button

4. Click on Next Button.

5. Click on Finish Button.

6. Now Click of File and Save As an excel file.

congratulations your .mrc file has been successfully converted to .xlsx file.
